Greta Qu
President and Teacher
Greta is a high school junior from Canada. She has qualified for USAJMO twice and attended MOP in 2024. She loves interacting with the math community; she hopes to share her passion for math and inspire other girls to enjoy the subject as well. Outside of math, Greta enjoys listening to music, crocheting, and singing.
Greta will be teaching Combo Heuristics this Spring! She also taught Combo Heuristics during the 2024-2025 school year!
Greta was also an Athemath student from 2022 to 2024!
Lanie Deng
Board Member and Teacher
Lanie is a junior at Central High School in Springfield, Missouri. She attended MOP in 2025 and 2026, and her favorite olympiad subject is combinatorics. Outside of math, Lanie enjoys playing card/board games, crocheting, doing puzzles, occasionally playing the piano, and sculpting random things!
Lanie will be teaching Cozy Combo this Fall!
Lanie was also an Athemath student from 2023 to 2025!
Selena Ge
Board Member and Teacher
Selena is a sophomore at Lexington High School in Massachusetts. She has competed in math competitions since elementary school and attended MOP in 2025 and 2026. Other than math, she enjoys reading, cryptograms, and baking.
Selena will be teaching Adventurous and Amusing Algebra this Spring!
Selena was also an Athemath student from 2022 to 2023!
Arjun Suresh
Board Member and TA
Arjun is a sophomore at Middleton High School in Wisconsin. He is a two-time AIME qualifier and received honors on USAJMO in 2025. Apart from math, he enjoys listening to music, reading, and writing.
Vera Puah
International Outreach Director and TA
Vera is in her fifth year at NUS High School (equivalent to high school junior) in Singapore, and has qualified for the SIMO National Team and won a gold medal at the CGMO in 2025. She hopes to make olympiad problems more accessible to girls and spark their curiosity in mathematics. She also enjoys physics olympiads and tournaments, as well as ballet and music.
As International Outreach Director, Vera will help spread the word about Athemath to communities around the globe!
Ali Cy
Founder and Advisor
Ali is a senior at MIT. She was an Honorable Mention for the 2020 USAJMO, and was on the 2020 USA European Girls’ Math Olympiad team, at which she got a silver medal. She started doing math contests seriously in seventh grade. While participating in math contests, she saw the way in which girls were isolated in math and how that helped lead to the under-representation of girls at contests. She founded Athemath in 2020 in order to help math girls connect to each other. Nowadays, Ali enjoys programming and reading webcomics.
Vivian Loh
Advisor
Vivian (v4913) is a current Caltech student in the Class of 2028, originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She loves math, especially geometry, and she attended MOP in 2021-2023 and was part of the U.S. team at the EGMO in 2022 and 2023. Aside from doing cool math problems, she also enjoys listening to EDM, origami, biking, teaching, and interacting with the math community.
Vivian taught Cute Geometry in Fall 2021, Spring 2022, Fall 2022, Spring 2023, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025, and NT Olympiad Fundamentals in Fall 2023 and Spring 2024!
Vivian was the President of Athemath from 2023 to 2024 and Community Director from 2022 to 2023!
Evan Chen
Advisor and Technician
Evan is a math olympiad coach who completed his number theory PhD at MIT. In addition to helping train the United States team, Evan runs his own training program while streaming olympiad math for public entertainment.
As a high school student, Evan was an IMO gold medalist and a winner of the 2014 USA math olympiad, which he took from 12:30am to 5am in Taiwan. He also wrote the popular textbook Euclidean Geometry in Math Olympiads while in high school, which was published in 2016. Outside of math and teaching, Evan’s hobbies include Arch Linux, competitive Hanabi and puzzle hunts.
Evan helps maintain the website that you’re seeing now. He hopes that it’s still working tomorrow.

Aashita Mandiwal
Teacher
Aashita is a sophomore at West High School in Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended MOP in 2026 and G2 in 2025 and 2026. She loves the math community very much and hopes to help teach and share her passion with other girls in math. Outside of math, Aashita enjoys crocheting, playing all sorts of games/puzzles, mock trial, music, and going on adventures.
Aashita will be teaching Joyful Geometry this fall! She was also an Athemath student from 2025 to 2026.
Elena Beckman

Elena is a junior at Dos Pueblos High School in Santa Barbara, California. She attended MOP in 2026. Outside of math, she enjoys puzzles, reading, baking, mock trial, and biking.
Erin Bian
Teacher
Erin is a junior at Lakeside School in Seattle, Washington. She is a 2026 MOP participant, USAJMO Top Honors awardee, Math Prize Olympiad medalist, and EGOI Finalist. Erin’s favorite subject is combinatorics, and she also enjoys programming, chess, and ultimate frisbee.

Haruka Kimura

Haruka is a high school junior. She represented Japan at the EGMO in 2025 and 2026, placing 9th overall in 2026. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting and solving geometry problems while watching anime.
Maiya Qiu
Teacher
Maiya is a senior in Princeton, New Jersey. She attended MOP in 2026 as well as Ross and G2 in previous years. In her free time, she likes working on a myriad of art/craft-y things while listening to music, learning guitar, or watching Studio Ghibli. You might also find Maiya playing tractor with her family.
Sophia Chen

Sophia Chen is a high school freshman from Carmel, Indiana. She attended MOP and Canada/USA Mathcamp in 2026. Her favorite olympiad subject is combo, but geometry is okay, too. Outside of math, she likes to play the violin, crochet, read, and practice her terrible southern accent.
Sylvia Chen
Teacher
Sylvia is a senior at Harker in the California Bay Area. They won the Two Sigma AMC award in 2024 and got a perfect score on AIME 2026; they also attended G2 in 2024 and 2025 and MOP in 2026. Outside of math, she enjoys linguistics, puzzles, SET, Pokemon Go, and being a serial yapper.
Wendy Leong

Wendy is a Y6 (12th grade) student from Raffles Institution, Singapore. She attended MOP 2024 and 2025 as an international student, and is a member of the SIMO National Team 2024, 2025, and 2026. She is fascinated by the creativity and depth behind math problems, and is eager to share this passion with likeminded young girls!
Besides math, she also likes Kakuro, Killer Sudoku, and painting digitally on Procreate.
Wendy will be teaching ComboneNT this Spring! She also taught ComboneNT during the 2024-2025 school year!

Aaron Luo
TA
Aaron is a junior from Rancho Palos Verdes, California and began doing math competitions seriously in 2025. He earned a gold medal at AMM 2026 and loves olympiad math, especially combinatorics, geometry, and number theory. Outside of math, Aaron enjoys running, playing and watching tennis, playing piano, listening to EDM, and socializing online.
Alex Sun

Alex is a senior at Clements High School in Houston. He competes in math contests with Austin Math Circle, and attended HSMC in 2024/2025 and MOP in 2026. Besides math, Alex enjoys playing video games, playing non-video games, singing, and science.
Dóra Sárdinecz

Dóra is a senior high school student from Hungary and a member of the 2025 MEMO team. She attended MOP 2025 and has participated in different math camps and European competitions. Her favorite Olympiad subjects are combinatorics and geometry. Outside of math, Dóra enjoys doing sports like handball, reading, and listening to music.

Melody Wu

Melody is a junior at Rye Country Day School in New York. She received an Honorable Mention on the 2026 USAJMO, attended Canada/USA Mathcamp in 2025 and 2026, and is a part of the MIT PRIMES-USA research program. Outside of math, Melody enjoys playing ice hockey and the flute, listening to music, and playing SET-mao. 🦭
Natalie Song

Natalie is a high school senior from Irvine, California. They are a three-time AIME qualifier and received Honorable Mention on the 2025 USAJMO. In addition, they attended G2 in 2025 and the Ross Mathematics Program in 2025 and 2026. Outside of math, they enjoy dancing ballet, watching musicals, and doing the Minute Cryptic.
Tarun Rapaka

Tarun is a senior from Houston, Texas. He is a 2025 USAMO Silver Medalist and a MOP attendee. He is also part of the MIT PRIMES-USA research program and has attended Canada/USA Mathcamp in 2024 and 2025. In his free time, Tarun enjoys solving Olympiad geometry problems, playing PC games, and hanging out with friends.
