Greta is a high school junior from Canada. She has qualified for USAJMO twice and attended MOP in 2024. She loves interacting with the math community; she hopes to share her passion for math and inspire other girls to enjoy the subject as well. Outside of math, Greta enjoys listening to music, crocheting, and singing.

Greta will be teaching Combo Heuristics this Spring! She also taught Combo Heuristics during the 2024-2025 school year!

Lanie is a junior at Central High School in Springfield, Missouri. She attended MOP in 2025 and 2026, and her favorite olympiad subject is combinatorics. Outside of math, Lanie enjoys playing card/board games, crocheting, doing puzzles, occasionally playing the piano, and sculpting random things!

Selena is a sophomore at Lexington High School in Massachusetts. She has competed in math competitions since elementary school and attended MOP in 2025 and 2026. Other than math, she enjoys reading, cryptograms, and baking.

Vera Puah

International Outreach Director and TA

Vera is in her fifth year at NUS High School (equivalent to high school junior) in Singapore, and has qualified for the SIMO National Team and won a gold medal at the CGMO in 2025. She hopes to make olympiad problems more accessible to girls and spark their curiosity in mathematics. She also enjoys physics olympiads and tournaments, as well as ballet and music.

As International Outreach Director, Vera will help spread the word about Athemath to communities around the globe!

Ali is a senior at MIT. She was an Honorable Mention for the 2020 USAJMO, and was on the 2020 USA European Girls’ Math Olympiad team, at which she got a silver medal. She started doing math contests seriously in seventh grade. While participating in math contests, she saw the way in which girls were isolated in math and how that helped lead to the under-representation of girls at contests. She founded Athemath in 2020 in order to help math girls connect to each other. Nowadays, Ali enjoys programming and reading webcomics.

Vivian (v4913) is a current Caltech student in the Class of 2028, originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She loves math, especially geometry, and she attended MOP in 2021-2023 and was part of the U.S. team at the EGMO in 2022 and 2023. Aside from doing cool math problems, she also enjoys listening to EDM, origami, biking, teaching, and interacting with the math community.

Vivian taught Cute Geometry in Fall 2021, Spring 2022, Fall 2022, Spring 2023, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025, and NT Olympiad Fundamentals in Fall 2023 and Spring 2024!

Vivian was the President of Athemath from 2023 to 2024 and Community Director from 2022 to 2023!

Evan Chen Maximize icon

Evan Chen

Advisor and Technician

Evan is a math olympiad coach who completed his number theory PhD at MIT. In addition to helping train the United States team, Evan runs his own training program while streaming olympiad math for public entertainment.

As a high school student, Evan was an IMO gold medalist and a winner of the 2014 USA math olympiad, which he took from 12:30am to 5am in Taiwan. He also wrote the popular textbook Euclidean Geometry in Math Olympiads while in high school, which was published in 2016. Outside of math and teaching, Evan’s hobbies include Arch Linux, competitive Hanabi and puzzle hunts.

Evan helps maintain the website that you’re seeing now. He hopes that it’s still working tomorrow.

Wendy is a Y6 (12th grade) student from Raffles Institution, Singapore. She attended MOP 2024 and 2025 as an international student, and is a member of the SIMO National Team 2024, 2025, and 2026. She is fascinated by the creativity and depth behind math problems, and is eager to share this passion with likeminded young girls!

Besides math, she also likes Kakuro, Killer Sudoku, and painting digitally on Procreate.
